There is something special about mountain biking. Maybe its the simplicity of it.....the hum of the treads......the catch of the chain.....the constant wind in your face. Whatever it is, I have been hooked for as long as I can remember. I joined a couple of friends out near the river for a ride down a new trail and it was amazing. A truly Epic ride. I Love this time of year. The cool air is such a blessing......and you can really feel the temperature change as you travel down through the valleys. We met up at the shack and I was glad to see Russel there.
Good to see You Brother.........You're a real Trooper.
My friend A.J. installed a new brake system for me.......the discs my ride came with were not the best. These are great, they have tremendous power and really compliment my rig. If you haven't tried the upgrade....do it....its worth the work.
The trail is fairly old.....there are trees that have fallen on the path and extremely high grass in some areas. I would say it is about seven miles. A loop that has many side trails that I can not wait to explore. It snakes through the trees and blazes across open fields, and there are places where the trail drops down into valleys that have all kinds of hazards. I am proud of myself, I only bonked a few times. It has been a while since I have tried to ride on that level. We cranked out several miles and it felt great, I am still buzzed. Not quite used to the time change we kind of pushed it into a night ride......this time of year always catches me off guard. I don't mind being out in the dark, its a whole new world at night. As we were loading up the bikes we could hear the call of coyotes in the distance. Its a little weird being in the woods in the fall and winter. I get so used to hearing the crickets and cicada that the world seems so quiet in their absence.
Can't wait to get back out there.

- I am a little unhindged. Slightly out of Orbit. I have the blessing and curse of being born with a rare vision, I see the world a little differently than everyone else. I am inspired to share this with everyone I meet. Its more than likely the facet of my character that you will enjoy the most. I write nonstop about my adventures and I truly hope you enjoy them. I want SO badly to be a writer. a writer of any kind. its my primary passion....I couple the love I have for the outdoors with my tangent thought writing and it usually comes out entertaining. My friends have asked me to post Blogs so they can go with me on my journey through life. I have decided to do just that. So come with me....lets see where this takes us.
I heard a great expression today and thought of how you are always describing what you hear- and most of it is things that most don't stop and pay attention to..like the bike spokes or crickets or distant howls or wind, etc.. "If we amplify everything we can hear nothing" .. peace is a great feeling and I think you are a very blessed person to be able to experience it often. :-)
ReplyDeleteWe ran into several mountain bikers on a hiking trip last month. Sure looked like fun!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean. We camped out at the lake last weekend. It was so very quiet.
ReplyDeleteYou're right. Most don't stop and just 'be' and hear. Very important part of living that many don't ever experience. I think that's what helps some of us 'read' or pick up on things- the subtle words said or not said- that speak volumes. Or the interactions between two people that others see nothing- yet you can pick up so much depth do. It's all relative to the meaning of life that so many don't ever even try to look for. Glad you do.
